Chris

Team Leader, Visually Impaired

Chris is our team leader for Vision impaired clients.

Having experienced the challenges of living with blindness, Chris is the perfect mentor to help you live your best life.

Think of Chris as your very own social secretary and personal assistant 🙂  Chris will keep you up to date with our what’s happening at our next group outing.  He’ll also make sure that you are perfectly supported for all your daily living requirements.  Chris’ enthusiasm and sense of humour make him the perfect match for this role.

When Chris isn’t being a Love To Assist Team leader and mentor, he can be found helping out in a number of volunteer roles, including president of the Brisbane Swish club.  He also enjoys working as a Massage therapist, walking, reading, swimming and socialising.

Graeme

Team Leader, Assistive Technology

Graeme is our team leader for Assistive Technology

Graeme has taught in the information technology and the adaptive technology sector for over 30 years.

He teaches people who are blind or vision impaired to use adaptive software with Microsoft Office products, software development, and how to use adaptive technology such as OCR (optical character recognition).

James

Team Leader, Permanent Movement Disorders

This includes:

  • Genetic disorders such as Down’s syndrome
  • Immune disorders such as Multiple sclerosis
  • Neurological conditions such as Cerebral palsy

James is the Director of Love to Assist, ensuring our vision and mission are met at every opportunity. Passionate about helping others to achieve their life goals, he works closely will all our Support Workers to ensure you receive the best care possible.

Although James spends a lot of his time leading the team, he loves getting out and supporting our Participants., James specialises in support for the Visually Impaired, and loves tandem bike rides and physical activities.

James is the perfect Support Worker to bring along on social outings, offering a wealth of experience and knowledge while getting the whole group laughing with his quick wit.

For corporate governance, James is also the company Director.

Mel

Team Leader, Autism

Mel is experienced in supporting both Adults and Children on the autism spectrum.  Mel loves being a life mentor of essential skills such as money management, cooking, transport and social skills.

Mel is also our Office Manager using her expert administrative skills to manage the office at Love to Assist. Some days you will find Mel in the office answering emails, book-keeping, and most importantly handling administrative tasks for our Support Workers and Participants. She’ll often be the first person you talk to when you contact us and is able to provide a wealth of knowledge on our services and Support Workers.

Mel is not just a great office whiz, but is passionate about helping others to live independently and maintain their wellbeing. When she’s not in the office, Mel often assists our Participants with daily activities and social gatherings and will have you feeling brighter with her infectious smile.

Lisa

Support Worker

Lisa is a mother of two teenage daughters and is currently studying social work at USC.

Lisa has spent a lifetime caring for others and is now looking forward to putting her experience into being a Support Worker.  Lisa has completed many hours of volunteer work within her children’s schools.  This has included assisting children with special needs, learning difficulties and English as a second language.  Lisa has been a willing volunteer within her local community.

Lisa loves to travel, exercise and is a very keen cook.

Karen

Support Worker

Karen is Mum to two young men and a very willing volunteer within her local community.  Karen loves walking alongside people of all ages helping them achieve their goals.  Karen loves cooking, shopping and helping you to get your home organised.

Lily

Support Worker

Lily is currently studying Nursing and Paramedics.  Lily has recently worked in an Aged Care facility, caring for elderly residents with a diverse range of needs in a specialist care unit.  Lily is experienced in many nursing skills and how to use interpersonal skills to care for residents.  Lily is now looking forward to putting those skill into supporting individuals.

Lily has also been a gymnastics coach for 5 years which has enhanced her knowledge of kids and how they learn and develop.  Lily has worked with kids with different conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.

Support Worker

Lewis is currently studying Film and Screen Media.  Lewis is enthusiastic in helping everyone live their best life.  Having volunteered as a Scout leader for many years , Lewis has experience working with children and is a wonderful role model and mentor for young adults with autism.

Mia

Support Worker

As the youngest of four children, Mia put her skills of patience, selflessness and respect for others into everything that she does.  Mia loves assisting others with the support they need, whether it be through transport, enjoyable activities, or purely just being a source of friendship. Mia understands the need as a support worker to be trustworthy, punctual and most importantly, reliable.  Mia places great importance on being a person of integrity, honesty and determination.

Mia has experience working with and taking care of children from babysitting many
younger cousins and family friends, as well as tutoring younger children and working with large groups of younger students in captain-led activities at school.
